Mail Server connectivity
Connectivity
The mail server and Message Care server are connected and communicate by way of the Ethernet LAN. To receive faxes on the mail server, a hardware connection is needed to answer the incoming fax call and collect an electronic image format of the fax. If Intuity AUDIX is the fax server, incoming trunk lines from the PSTN connect to the DEFINITY ECS. The fax server and DEFINITY ECS connect using analog line ports and a signaling link. Other fax servers sometimes support direct connectivity between the PSTN and modem boards in the fax server. In the standard configuration, the DEFINITY ECS is bypassed and the Message Care server connects to the mail server by way of the LAN (as always).
