Potential problems when starting the application

Invalid SQL password

A pop-up dialog box appears on the Message Care server if upon system start up, the Work Flow Manager is unable to successfully log in to the SQL database. The Work Flow Manager will repeatedly attempt to connect to the database. The Mail Manager process will not begin mailbox polling until both the Work Flow Manager and Mail Manager processes can successfully log in to the SQL databases.

Call delivery delays after start up

Upon system start up, the Work Flow Manager process queries the database for all open messages (messages in the received, active, launched, or suspended state). Messages will not be delivered until the Work Flow Manager reviews the complete set of messages awaiting delivery and sorts this work queue into the appropriate delivery order. (The delivery order is based on message receipt time and expiration of suspension timers.) If the set of open messages exceeds several thousand, then there can be a noticeable delay.

Required system parameters

Upon system start up, mailbox polling and message delivery will proceed only if you have administered the outbound SMTP mail server and the information necessary to generate system alarms. See Administering the messaging software.
