Append your Access database archives
About
If you have multiple Microsoft Access database archives that you want to migrate to Microsoft SQL, then you will need to run the MArchive.bat utility.
The MArchive.bat utility appends your Access based message archived databases (Pre Message Care Release 4.0) to the MCArchive Database in Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 (Message Care Release 4.0 and greater).
Location of message databases
The MArchive.bat utility assumes that your message databases are located in the C:\Program Files\Avaya\MessageCare\database folder. If your message databases are not located in the C:\Program Files\Avaya\MessageCare\database folder, move them to that folder before running the MArchive.bat utility.
Your message databases cannot contain the same message record IDs (tracking numbers) that are contained in the MCArchive database. If the MArchive.bat utility identifies duplicate message record IDs, then the migration will fail.
If you are aware of duplicate message record IDs or suspect that you may have duplicate message record IDs, then run the archive scripts (see Multiple archives). The archive scripts rename and move your current MCArchive database and create a new (empty) MCArchive database to which you can append your Access databases.
Append your message databases to the Microsoft SQL MCArchive database
To append your Access databases to the MCArchive database, do the following:
Open the MS-DOS Command Prompt window.
Navigate to the \Install directory under Program Files->Avaya->MessageCare->SQL Tools.
Type the following command: MArchive {database_name}
{database_name} = the name of your message database
For example, c:\Program Files\Avaya\MessageCare\SQL Tools>MArchive MCArchive1.mdb
Repeat Step 3 for each message database that you want to append to the MCArchive database in SQL.
