Multiple archives
Overview
To efficiently maintain your archived records, Message Care enables you to run multiple archives. For example, instead of continuously appending records to your current MCArchive database, you can rename and move your MCArchive database, and then archive additional records to a new MCArchive database. You can run archives as often as you feel necessary.
After you have run your first archive, you must prepare your environment to run additional archives. You do this by running the the messaging software's archive scripts. The MCArchive scripts help you set up your archive environment so that you can create more than one archive instead of appending records to a single archive database.
Each script automatically performs or asks you to perform a specific function. These functions are described below:
Function 1 (script name: DetachMCArchiveStep1.sql)this script locates your current MCArchive database files, changes the MCArchive databases into single user mode, and then detaches the MCArchive database from the SQL server.
Function 2 (script name: MoveAndRenameToMCArchiveMMDDYYStep2.sql )this script explains how to move and rename the MCArchive_data.mdf and MCArchive_log.ldf files associated with the detached database.
Function 3 (script name: AttachMCArchiveMMDDYYStep3.sql )this script attaches the renamed MCArchive database files to a new archive database.
Function 4 (script name: NewMCArchiveStep4.sql)this script explains the functions you must perform to create a new MCArchive database so that you can run another archive.
