TN2211
The TN2211 Optical Drive has replaced the TN1656 Tape Drive in DEFINITY ECS R8r and later systems. The drive provides removable storage for software upgrades, translation backups, announcement file backups, core dumps, etc., as did the TN1656 Tape Drive. The Optical Drive has several advantages over the TN1656 Tape Drive:
- Writing to the optical disk is considerably shorter than writing to tape. A full backup will take approximately 20 minutes, whereas the tape drive takes up to 95 minutes.
- Writing to the optical disk is more reliable due to:
