Replacing the
Platform
|
The components that can be replaced on the S3210 Message
Server platform are the analog-line interface
card, the keyboard and mouse, modem, the monitor, and their associated
cables. If another system component fails, such as the hard drive or
the CD-ROM, the entire platform must be replaced. If a component that
requires a platform replacement fails, contact a technical support representative
for instructions on obtaining a replacement platform.
When you receive the replacement platform, you must complete
the following steps to return the system to service:
- Unpack the replacement platform. You
will be reusing the peripheral devices and cables from the old platform.
- Disconnect the monitor, keyboard/mouse, modem, RJ-11 lines, and
LAN cable from the old platform. Label or carefully note the channel
for each RJ-11 line as you unplug it.
- Connect the monitor, keyboard/mouse, and modem to the new platform.
If you need additional information, see Connecting
Peripheral Devices.
- Connect the LAN cable to COM2 on the new platform.
- Connect the RJ-11 phone lines into the correct channel on the new
platform. If you need additional information, see Connecting
the Analog-line Interface Cards.
- Restore power to the system.
- Log into the system as sa, using
the default sa password of sapasswd. When prompted, change
your password from the default.
- Load the Switch Integration
software.
- Load the language packages
that were installed on the original platform. Otherwise, you will
be prompted to install those packages when you attempt to restore
the system and the restore operation will be halted.
- Restore the system from the
backup.
- Verify the customer options.
- Test the system.
