Assembling the Deskside MAP/100P
The following sections and graphics show you how to lock rolling casters, install ferrites, locate key components, and provide proper clearance for the cooling systems of the deskside MAP/100P.
Locking the Rolling Casters on the Deskside MAP/100P
If the MAP/100P is ordered as a deskside unit, the side panel and base are factory installed and no additional assembly is needed. However, you must lock the rolling casters once you position the unit.
The Deskside MAP/100P is equipped with four casters that allow you to roll the unit around as required. Once you position it, press down the locking mechanisms located on each caster to secure the MAP/100P in place.
Installing Ferrites on the Deskside MAP/100P
Note: You must install all required ferrites before you begin installing your system.
See Installing a Ferrite for general information about installing ferrites. See Ferrite Configuration for ferrite information specific to the MAP/100P.
Once you have installed all required ferrites, begin assembling your system.
Key Components on the Front of the Deskside MAP/100P
See the graphic of the Front View of the Deskside MAP/100P with Front Bezel Removed and for a description of each component on the front of the deskside MAP/100P.
Key Components on the Back of the Deskside MAP/100P
See the graphic of the Back View of the Deskside MAP/100P and for a description of each component on the back of the deskside MAP/100P.
Cooling System for the Deskside MAP/100P
The cooling system for the MAP/100P includes two fans. One fan is located at the top of the circuit card cage area. Another cooling fan is located at the bottom of the circuit card cage area.
The fans maintain air flow in the unit to prevent components from overheating, which can cause components to malfunction. To prevent overheating, you must also maintain adequate clearance on all sides of the unit so that air can circulate.
