Logging feature

Type of feature

Logging is a base feature.

Overview

The logging feature uses the Prism Logger to provide a means for events to be saved in a log file on the system. The Prism Logger is responsible for the alarms and log messages that appear in the log. It captures a record of system status when thresholds are reached.

The system uses messages to alert you to problems, potential problems, or a change in the status of the system. Messages are collected in the Message Log Report and can be displayed using the Message Log Report screen in Web Administration. Through the use of this Message Log Report, a customer or technician can detect, report, and fix problems quickly to minimize disruption to normal service.

Hardware requirements

The alarm administration feature requires an analog modem or Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) that is supported over serial connections.

Software requirements

The logging feature requires the Interactive Response Base System 1.0 package (AVir) software.

Using this feature

Administer and view log messages using Web Administration (Reports > Message Log Report) or the display messages command.
