On packet-based configurations, call progress is managed through interaction with voice response applications and communication of messages and events between the DEFINITY or MultiVantage system and the Avaya IR VoIP subsystem. Call progress involves the LAN, with no use of T1/E1 lines or telephony boards. The DEFINITY or MultiVantage system acts as the Gateway to the VoIP subsystem.
