Setting up a WebLM server

You require the following software to set up a WebLM server:

The software is provided as a component of the IR product software.

The IR system contacts two types of servers:

You can install the WebLM server on the same platform as the IR system or you can install the WebLM server on a different platform. If the WebLM server is installed on the same platform as the IR system, then the Web LicensingManager Server package (AVweblm) will have to be installed on the IR platform. For more information, see WebLM licensing feature.

The IR system contacts the WebLM servers for licenses of each licensed feature configured during startup. It stores these values in an internal licensing repository called the NVRam. The number of licenses acquired by the IR system during the current startup are updated in the NVRam. The number of licenses acquired by the IR system during the previous startup is also stored in the NVRam. The value of number of licenses acquired, stored in the NVRam are only updated at system startup.

Note: If the value of number of licenses acquired during the present startup is lesser than the value of the number of licenses acquired during a previous startup, and the value of the number of licenses configured in Web Administration is greater than the number of licenses acquired during the present startup, then the NVRam value will not change from the previous startup and will not be updated for the current startup. For example, if the value of the number of licenses configured in Web Administration for Digital and VoIP ports is 30, and you had acquired 20 licenses during a previous startup, and the value of number of licenses acquired during the present startup is 15 licenses, then the value of number of licenses acquired will continue to remain 20 and the NVRam will not be updated during the current startup.

For more information, see WebLM server modes of operation.
