In IR R2.0, you can restore the system from a full backup on an NFS system, or from an external tape drive.
The steps to restore the system from a full backup on an NFS system differ slightly from the steps required to restore the system from a full backup on an external tape drive. The steps also differ, depending upon whether you are restoring a system with Solaris 8 update 8 O.S. or Solaris 10 O.S.
This section describes the steps required to restore systems operating with: :
Notes:
Many of the system prompts in this procedure require the use of function keys. Typically, if the function keys do not work, you can use them by pressing Ctrl+F then pressing # where # is the function key number. If the terminal type is xterm, use the following procedure so that the function keys will work properly:
1. Enter export TERM=xterm
2. Enter export SMTERM=xterm
If you are restoring data for a system that has the Disk Mirroring feature, both hard disks have failed, and during the restore process you received a message that there are "insufficient DB replicas", see Restoring the system if both hard disk drives fail for more information.
While restoring the system, do not modify the host name and IP address of the system. Keeping the host name and IP address of the system the same, prevents problems with restoring licenses.
