Connecting the analog port boards

This topic provides steps for connecting the analog port boards installed in the Message Networking system to the switch. Analog port boards are required on Message Networking systems using analog. See Unpacking the system for a list of supported analog port boards.

To connect the cables supplied with the analog port boards to the switch:

Note: Check the numbering on the board faceplate to verify that you are connecting the correct cord to the correct port.

  1. Connect each port on the installed analog boards to one end of a standard RJ-11 tip/ring cord. Note which cables connect to which ports.
  2. The other end of each cable must be connected to an analog line on the corporate switching system. You can connect the individual tip/ring cords or you can connect the tip/ring cords through a harmonica. The organization responsible for maintaining the corporate switch should make this connection (see the customer contract or the statement of work).
  3. If you are performing a new installation, continue with Connecting the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
