Running a Name Server Lookup Test

The Name Server Lookup Test determines whether a system can be looked up through the domain name servers assigned on the Network Addressing page. If domains can be looked up, messages can be delivered to those domains.

To run a Name Server Lookup Test:

  1. Start at the Administration menu and select Diagnostics > TCP/IP Diagnostics > Name Server Lookup Test.
The system displays the Name Server Lookup Test page.
  2. Complete the fields on the page. For information about the fields on this page, click Help.
  3. Click Run Test.
The system displays the View Packet Statistics—TCP/IP Diagnostics page. If the system indicates a problem with the network, contact your LAN administrator.
  4. You can then specify different information and click Run Test Again to run additional tests. Test each host name or IP address.
  5. Click Return to Main to return to the Administration menu.
