To diagnose voice channels or cards:
- Start at the Administration menu, and select Diagnostics
> Voice Equipment Diagnostics > Diagnose.
The system displays the Diagnose Equipment page.
- Complete the fields on the page. For information about the fields
on this page, click Help.
Caution! Do not diagnose all of the analog port boards or channels at once. This kind of diagnosis can leave no
channels available on the system to accept incoming calls.
- Click Diagnose.
Depending on the equipment selected, diagnosis can take several
minutes. The system displays the Voice Board Diagnostics results
page as the system performs the diagnosis.
- If the system displays either of the following messages, the
system did not detect a working telephone line connected to the
voice port. If you see either of the following messages, complete
Steps a through c.
"No loop current on channel number"
"Channel number changed to state FOOS"
- Verify that the telephone line is properly
connected to both the interface card and the switch.
- Verify that the analog line is set up properly
on the switch.
- Verify that the switch port has a dial
tone. To do so, remove the analog line, plug in an analog telephone,
and listen with the handset for a dial tone.
If there is a dial tone, the analog port board is
defective. If there is no dial tone, the problem is with the
switch. Verify the wiring and administration of the switch.
If the system displays the following message, the system did
not detect a dial tone. However, it did detect loop current,
which could be a result of excessive load on the analog port board. If you see the following message, complete Steps
d and e.
"Diag TR number: No dial tone frequencies set"
- Verify that the analog lines are distributed
over several analog port boards.
- Verify that the switch administration for
the ports is valid.
If the system displays either of the following messages, the
channel or card is not working and you must replace
the analog port board:
"Channel number changed to state BROKEN"
"Card number changed to state BROKEN"
- If the card is NONEX (nonexistent), follow the procedures to
get inside the PC and verify that the
card is properly seated in the slot. If the card is not properly
seated, correct the seating of the card and then follow the procedures
to return power and replace
the PC cover.
-
Click Return to Main to return to the Administration menu.
