Damage from electrostatic discharge is possible. See Protecting against ESD damage for more information.

Replacing the chassis cover on an S3400-H

The front bezel and top cover are removed for most maintenance procedures.

To replace the chassis cover on an S3400-H server:

  1. Position the top cover so the latch hook is in back, and the rail hooks face toward the rear of the machine. See Removing or replacing the cover.
  2. Set the cover on the chassis so that it is aligned with the sides and slightly overhangs the front of the machine.
  3. Slide the cover toward the back of the machine until it is flush with the chassis.
  4. For a rack-mounted unit, slide the machine back into the cabinet.
  5. If you unplugged any cables, plug them in now. See S3400-H back views.
  6. Tighten the screw latch on the rear of the chassis to secure the top cover.
  7. Replace the bezel (plastic cover) on the front of the chassis. See Removing or replacing the front bezel.
    1. Insert the bottom of the bezel into the chassis.
    2. Push the bezel upright until the two upper tabs snap into place under the top cover.
  8. For a stackable (desktop) configuration, replace any units that need to be stacked on top of this machine.
  9. Continue with Restoring power to the system.

The top cover is removed for most maintenance procedures.

To replace the top cover on an S3210R server:

  2. Set the cover on the chassis so the cover is aligned with the sides and slightly overhangs the back of the server.
  3. Slide the cover toward the front of the machine until the cover snaps into place.
  4. For a rack-mounted unit, slide the machine back into the cabinet.
  5. If you unplugged any cables from the back of the server, reconnect them now. See S3210R back view.
  6. On the back of the server, replace and tighten the two screws to secure the top cover to the chassis.
  7. Continue with Restoring power to the system.
