Remote machine connection troubleshooting

This topic provides information you can use to troubleshoot the connection to remote machines.

Trouble connecting to an Aria Digital remote machine

If you experience problems communicating with an Aria Digital remote system, check for the following common problems:

  • Verify that the IP address administered for the remote Aria Digital system is correct on the Message Networking remote machine parameters page.
  • Verify that the IP address for the Message Networking application is administered correctly on the remote Aria system.
  • Verify that the Octel Serial Number is administered correctly for the remote Aria system in the Message Networking remote machine parameters page.
  • Verify that the Octel Serial Number is administered correctly for the Message Networking application on the remote Aria system.
  • Verify that the TCP/IP WAN/LAN infrastructure is configured properly.
  • Verify that the Dial Plan Mapping for the remote Aria system is administered correctly on the Message Networking application.
  • Verify that a Name Send was executed from the remote Aria system to populate the remote subscribers on the Message Networking application.

In addition, you can perform a Test Connect from the remote Aria system to the Message Networking application. The Test Connect tool allows you to perform a Ping and Echo Test and provides a series of Networking Traces

To perform a Test Connect from the remote Aria system:

  1. From the Aria System Manager, select Menu 20, Service Operations.
  2. Select Submenu 14, LAN Utilities.

Trouble connecting to an Serenade Digital remote machine

If you experience problems communicating with an Serenade Digital remote system, check for the following common problems:

  • Verify that the IP address administered for the remote Serenade Digital system is correct on the Message Networking remote machine parameters page.
  • Verify that the IP address for the Message Networking application is administered correctly on the remote Serenade system.
  • Verify that the TCP/IP WAN/LAN infrastructure is configured properly.
  • Verify that the Dial Plan Mapping for the remote Serenade system is administered correctly on the Message Networking application.
  • Verify that a Name Send was executed from the remote Serenade system to populate the remote subscribers on the Message Networking application.
  • If required, verify that the Serenade Digital Sender Dial Plan is administered correctly on the Message Networking application.
  • If required, verify that the Serenade Digital parameters are administered correctly on the Message Networking application.

In addition, you can perform a detailed test connect from the remote Serenade system to the Message Networking application using the Test DNET command on the Serenade.
