This topic explains how to verify that public
LAN access to the LDAP directory is enabled on your Avaya
S3400 Message Server.
Security Risk!
If you enable LDAP directory access, email addresses of each
subscriber are viewable. Therefore, Avaya recommends that
you administer LDAP for use only behind a corporate firewall,
and that access to the LDAP port be blocked from external
users. |
To verify that public LAN access to the
LDAP directory is enabled:
- Start at the Messaging Administration
main menu and select:
Feature Administration
Internet Messaging
General
Options and Settings
The system displays the General Options and Settings page. The
status of the LDAP directory is displayed in the LDAP enabled?
field. If the field is set to Yes, public LAN access to the LDAP
directory is enabled. If it is set to No, it is not
enabled.
- To enable public LAN access to the LDAP
directory, click the Yes radio button in the LDAP enabled?
field.
- Click Submit.
Your selection is then registered with the system.
- If your subscribers will be using the S3400 in conjunction
with email client applications, such as Microsoft Outlook and
Express, for "by name" addressing, continue with Accessing
the LDAP address directory.
-
If you are done administering the LDAP directory, click Return
to Main to return to the Messaging Administration main menu.
