Checking the Alarm Log for LDAP directory alarms

Errors that occur in the LDAP directory are sent to the Avaya™ S3400 Message Server alarm log. The alarm log contains descriptions of all significant problems that have been detected by the system. The alarm log contains active alarms and resolved alarms; that is, alarms that are corrected either automatically or manually by repair procedures. The system administrator should check this log on a daily basis.

To check the alarm log for LDAP directory problems:

  1. Access the Alarm Log. See Alarm Log for more information.
  2. On the Alarm log page, enter 6617 in the Alarm Code field. This is for the LDAP alarm VM SOFTWARE 6617.
  3. If you want to display alarm information for a date other than the current date, enter that date (in the format MM/DD/YY), in the Start Date field.
  4. Click Display.

    The alarm log is displayed.

  5. Examine the alarm information and check to see if alarm code 6617 is listed under the Alarm Code column. Alarms, events, and their associated repair procedures are described in Alarms and Events.
  6. Click Return to Main if you are finished checking the alarm log.
