Deleting remote machines

If you are informed that a remote machine (either another Avaya™ S3400 Message Server or an Avaya™ Message Networking system) has been removed from the network, you must delete that remote machine from your local S3400 machine. When you delete a remote machine, you also delete any remote subscribers associated with that remote machine. Machine information and subscriber information are not removed completely from the system until a nightly audit runs.

Because deleting a machine removes the remote machine and the remote subscribers assigned to that machine, before proceeding make sure that you really want to delete the machine, and then make sure that you enter the correct remote machine name. If you do make a mistake when removing a remote machine, you can retrieve a deleted remote machine before the nightly audit runs.

Note: You cannot delete the local machine but you can change local machine information.

To delete a remote machine:

  1. Start at the Messaging Administration main menu and select:
  2. Global Administration
         Messaging Administration

The system displays the SSH User Authentication dialog box. Enter your login, for example, sa or vm, in the User name field and your password in the Password field. Click Login. The system then displays the Messaging command prompt screen.

  3. Enter remove machine remote_machine_name at the enter command prompt.
  4. Note: If you do not know the names of the remote machines, enter list machines at the enter command prompt. The system displays a list of all machines administered on the system.

The system displays the Remote Machine Profile screen, page 1, and prompts you to press F3 (Enter) to execute the command.

  1. Press F3 (Enter) to remove the machine.
  2. The cursor returns to the command line, and the system displays the following message:

    Command Successfully Completed.

  3. Enter another administrative command at the enter command prompt or click Return to Main.
