The Message Storage Server (MSS) uses the
Linux system clock to perform certain time-dependent tasks, such
as performing the unattended backup. The clock was probably set
during the installation of your system, but you should check it
again on a monthly basis and whenever a daylight savings time change
occurs.
When you set the time for the server using the procedures in this
section, you set both the Linux system clock and the on-board (hardware)
real-time clock. You should synchronize the server to the switch
or synchronize the server and the switch to a real-time source.
To check and set the Linux date and time:
- Start at the Messaging Administration main
menu and select:
Basic System Administration
Date and Time Administration
The system displays the Linux Date and
Time page.
- Check the date and time information.
- Correct any date and time inaccuracies.
For more information, click any of the fields or Help
on the web-based administration page.
- Click Save to save the
changes.
Verify that the system confirms the date
and time change occurred successfully.
If the change occurred successfully, the system logs a message
in the Administrator's log about the changes. The system does
not reset to the new date and time changes until the system is
restarted.
- Click Back in the web browser.
The system displays the Linux Date and Time page.
- Click Return to main.
- Stop and then start the messaging software. See Stop
the messaging software and Start the
messaging software for more information.
-
Click Return to Main to return to the Messaging Administration main
menu.
