Guidelines for adding, editing, and deleting subscribers

You can add, edit, and delete subscribers as employees join and leave your company and existing employees require expanded messaging services.

Things to consider about adding, editing, and deleting subscribers:

Using Mailbox Manager It is recommended that you use the Mailbox Manager application to add, edit, and delete your local subscriber data. Mailbox Manager allows you to add large numbers of subscribers by entering them as a group instead of individually, manage local subscriber data on multiple servers, and perform many other advanced subscriber management features. For more information about Mailbox Manager, see the Mailbox Manager User Guide.

Creating custom subscriber fields You can create custom subscriber fields that contain useful information for your company. For example, if your company needs additional subscriber data, such as a subscriber's department name, job title, or supervisor, you can create additional subscriber fields that display on the Adding Local Subscriber and Report of Local Subscribers pages. If might be useful to create these custom subscriber fields before adding subscribers. For more information, see Creating custom subscriber fields.
Avaya Site Administration or AUDIX Data Exchange
(if available)
You can use Avaya Site Administration (ASA) or AUDIX Data Exchange to transfer the name and extension of the subscriber, as well as the command (add, change, delete), to the switch or vice versa.

In addition, you can specify the following other default values to be sent along with the name and extension:
  • To the messaging system—class-of-service, switch number, password
  • To the switch—class-of-service, COR, station type
