This topic describes how to add software packages on the Message
Storage Server (MSS).
Additional software packages can be installed on the MSS from the
Avaya™ Modular Messaging Release 1 Message Storage Server
(MSS) Software CD, Issue 1 or later, or from technical support Web
sites.
Note: Most software installations require
you to stop the messaging software. Therefore, plan to do the
software package installation during low usage hours. See Stopping
the messaging software for more information. |
To add software packages:
- Perform an attended backup. See Backing
up system files (attended) for more information.
- Press the eject button on the front of the DVD-RAM drive and
remove the DVD-RAM backup medium, if necessary.
- Insert the Avaya™ Modular Messaging Release 1 Message
Storage Server (MSS) Software CD in to the DVD-RAM drive.
Note: When inserting the software CD
in to the DVD-RAM drive tray, make sure that you place the
CD solidly between the plastic clips. |
- From the Messaging Administration main
menu, select:
Utilities
Software Management
Software
Installation
- Follow the on-screen instructions to navigate to the CD.
The server displays a list of packages available on the CD.
Note: If you did not complete
an attended backup in Step 1 or in the last two hours, the
system displays a message that a successful backup has not
been completed in the past two hours. Click Cancel
(return to Utilities menu) to cancel the software
update. Go back to Step 1 and perform an attended backup. |
- Select the package you want to install.
- Click Install selected packages.
The server displays a list of packages to be installed.
- Review the list, then click Proceed with installation.
The server begins the installation and displays the installation
output. If you are adding software packages to the system at
the console, the installation is complete when the pointer changes
from a wristwatch to an X.
- Verify that the software installed successfully. Use the Page
Up or Page Down keys to check for an installation/update confirmation
entry in the installation output .
- If the software was installed successfully, remove the CD from
the DVD-RAM drive.
- Insert a DVD-RAM backup medium in to the DVD-RAM drive in anticipation
for the next unattended backup.
- Click Restart the System.
