Configuring the audio encoding format

Modular Messaging Software supports Global Systems for Mobile Communications G.7.11 audio encoding format. This format determines the way in which audio is recorded on every MAS in the voice mail domain. In turn, this determines the format of voice messages sent using the TUI and desktop clients. The client applications configure themselves to use the selected audio encoding format.

To configure the audio encoding format:

  1. Stop operation of the MAS.
  2. For the procedure to stop the MAS service, see Stopping and restarting the MAS service.

  3. In the Voice Mail Configuration window, click the voice mail domain.
  4. Click Audio Encoding.
  5. The system displays the Audio Encoding dialog box.

  6. From the Default Audio Encoding Format drop-down list, select the audio encoding format you require. You can select one of the following:
    • G.7.11 mu-law
    • G.7.11 A-law
  7. Under Voice Mail Text Body, edit the text that is to be added to all voice messages sent to recipients who have not installed Modular Messaging Software. This text should explain what they must do in order to listen to their message.
  8. Restart the MAS.
  9. For the procedure to restart the MAS service, see Stopping and restarting the MAS service.
