Replacing or adding a circuit card

The number and position of the PCI slots varies, depending on the type of motherboard that is installed:

  • Integrated video and LAN: Up to four (4) port boards can be installed in each MAS, depending on the switch integration and the TUI used.
    • Starting from the side of the chassis, the available PCI slots are 1, 2, 3, and 6.
    • The CT bus cable has four connectors.
  • Nonintegrated video and LAN: Up to five (5) port boards might be installed in an MAS, depending on the switch integration and the TUI used.
    • Starting from the side of the chassis, the available PCI slots are 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2 (PCI slot 1 is always used for the NIC).
    • The CT bus cable has five connectors.
  • Note: Only systems that were upgraded from Release 1 support five (5) port boards, if five boards were installed before the upgrade. All new S3400-family MASs support up to four (4) port boards and use PCI slots 6, 5, 4, and 3.

For example purposes, this figure shows an S3400-family MAS with an integrated video and LAN.
