MAS - CA - Using the Prompt Recording Device

The prompt recording device is available, only when the Application prompt option button is selected in the Properties dialog box, Prompt tab. See MAS - CA - Properties - Prompt Tab.

Existing Prompt Files

You can drag-and-drop an existing *.WAV file into the prompt recording device area. The recording is then assigned to the prompt currently selected in the Application prompts grid.

Recording New Prompt Files

You use the prompt recording device area to record a new prompt file. The recording is then assigned to the prompt currently selected in the Application prompts grid.

Right-click the icon to change the audio device for recording the prompt “on the fly” to:

1 Multimedia - If you use a multimedia PC with a microphone, you can begin recording immediately.

2 Telephone - If you use a telephone to record the prompt, you must wait for the system to dial the telephone and the telephone to ring.

The green and black display area consists of the timer information, part information, and total time display.

Timer Displays where you are in the current message.

Part Displays which message part you are in, how many message parts there are, and the total length of the current part.

Total Displays the total time of the message.

Plays back the voice message.

Stops the recording, playing back, forwarding or rewinding of voice messages. You are returned to the beginning of the voice message.

Interrupts the playback/recording of a voice message.

Moves to the previous part of a multi-part message.

Moves back five seconds in the current message part.

Moves forward five seconds in the current message part

Moves to the next part of a multi-part message.

Click this icon to record a voice message.

Note: The built-in recording device does not allow you to edit your recordings after you make them, for instance, to trim out any unwanted silence at the beginning or end of the recording.

If you are using a multimedia PC with a microphone, you can begin recording immediately.

If you are using a telephone to record the prompt, you must wait for the system to dial the telephone and the telephone to ring. When it does, pick up the handset and proceed to the next step.

The slider displays the total length of a message. By clicking and dragging on the slider, you can move around in a message.

When playing back a voice message, the progress bar shows the progress during download.
