VMSC - VMD - Security - Message Servers Dialog Box

This topic describes how to use the Message Servers dialog box to configure the Avaya Message Store Server (Avaya MSS) with which the MASs can communicate. You can also set up the list of protocols the MASs use to get subscriber data from the message store.

Message Servers This displays the name of the Avaya Message Store Server (Avaya MSS) with which the MASs can communicate.

Adds a line to the Message Servers list. You can then enter the name of the Avaya MSS or select the server using the browse button (...).

Deletes the Avaya MSS selected in the Message Servers list. The system prompts you to confirm the deletion.

Credentials This displays a list of protocols the MASs use to get subscriber data from the Avaya MSS.

Adds a line to the Credentials list. You can then configure one of the of four available Protocol accounts.

Note: You must add at least one but can add all four, depending on the needs of your system.

Deletes the protocol selected in the Credentials list. The system prompts you to confirm the deletion.

Protocol Select the desired access protocol used on the message store.

The access protocol is the interface used to access mailbox data. Normally, you add IMAPI, IMAP4, and LDAP. You would add FAX, only if your system supports FAX. The choices are as follows:

LDAP This protocol is necessary to retrieve subscriber data.

IMAP4 This protocol is necessary for the MAS to access the Avaya MSS.

IMAPI This protocol is necessary for the MM Mailbox Monitor service to access the message store. Mailbox Monitor manages the Message Waiting Indicator and Call Me servers.

FAX This protocol is necessary for the server to act as the FAX server.

Password Enter the password for each account.

Note: After changing the LDAP or FAX passwords, you must and restart the MM Messaging Application Server service. See MAS - Modular Messaging (MM) Services. You do not need to restart the service after changing the IMAP4 or IMAPI passwords.
