Replacing or adding a circuit card

The number and position of the PCI slots varies, depending on the type of motherboard that is installed:

  • Integrated video and LAN: Up to four (4) port boards can be installed in each MAS, depending on the type of board. Starting from the side of the chassis, the available PCI slots are 1, 2, 3, and 6. The CT bus cable has four connectors.
  • Nonintegrated video and LAN: Up to five (5) port boards might be installed in an MAS, depending on the type of board and if the system was upgraded from Release 1. Starting from the side of the chassis, the available PCI slots are 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2 (PCI slot 1 is always used for the NIC). The CT bus cable has five connectors.
  • Note: Only systems that were upgraded from Release 1 support five (5) port boards, if five boards were installed before the Release 2 upgrade. All new MASs support up to four (4) port boards and use PCI slots 6, 5, 4, and 3.

For example purposes, an MAS with an integrated video and LAN is shown.
