You must configure each Avaya media server before it can provide service. It is also possible that a software upgrade will introduce new fields or screens that must be filled out; see Software installation at a glance for details.
Before you begin:
Allow up to 1 hour to configure the servers the first time.
Do not stop for more than 30 minutes or you may lose your data and have to begin again (see the warning below).
Keep your completed preinstallation worksheet handy for crucial IP information.
Make sure you have coordinated the IP addresses, DNS, and network time server information with the LAN administrator. Have this person's contact information available in case you run into any difficulties.
It is best to complete this procedure with as few interruptions
as possible, so that configuration information is not accidentally lost.
Most information is only written to the server at the very end of this
process. If you quit the process before then (log
off or time-out), the data you entered will be lost. You need to access
a link at least once every 30 minutes, or the server will log you off.
Once the configuration process is started, you must complete all the screens in sequence. You may do other tasks and access other screens or windows on your computer while your configuration window is open, as long as you return to the Configure Server window to continue the procedure where you left off.
