AADS Utlity Server

Folks,

Is there a means to be able to enable AADS Utility Services only without having to spend time on the other integrations and services that are not needed?

We are upgrading to Aura 8.1 but don't need to implement AADS but we do need to replace a 7.1 Utility Server which will be automatically replaced during the AVP upgrade..

I think you still need to integrate AADS with SMGR, but you don't have to do the more laborious LDAP integration. Run the "app install" script after deployment and you'll see steps for Utility Server. You'll need another IP and FQDN.

Ntp

I myself am unable to complete the configuration with app install. I am installing in the lab to make this plug and play but the NTP will not allow me to proceed. I have done the edit ntp.conf and pretty much everything I can find without avail. I even enabled the NTP server on one of my not in use OL servers and still the config fails at the NTP level. I am concerned that this will happen on site during cut as well. Has anyone had this issue and was able to get past the NTP failure?

Your NTP server needs to be synchronized with a high stratum clock with low root dispersion. I ran into this on AAWG which uses the same engine as AADS. It's very selective on timing source and just any NTP sync will not work.
