9408 adding BM12 expansion module

I have a 9408 set programmed as a 2420 type. How do you add multiple expansion modules? The documenation shows this phone type to support 3 BM12 modules but with the programming you only have the option yes/no for expansion. CM version is 6.0. If I program as a 1416 set I have the option to say how many modules but I lose buttons on set.

The 9408 was not natively supported until CM6.2. It could be aliased as a 1416 in CM6.0 and a 1416 supports 2 button modules. When it is aliased as a 2420, it can only have one button module because that is all a 2420 could support.
