    Certify SBC with Verizon

Has anyone gone through the process of needing to have an Session Border Controller certified with Verizon before putting it on your network. We have been told that before we can upgrade our current SBC from 6.2.x to 6.3.x or 7.0 we need to go through a certification process with them.

It looks to be a onerous process and they want us to pay for the privilege. We then need to make any changes before putting it online to test internally. Any insight would be appreciated.

    Kind Regards,
    Richard

Normally inter-op certification is performed by Avaya's DevConnect program, but versions are quickly superseded. If you have Verizon trunking working with an SBC-E 6.2, I'd expect no issues with 6.3. Can't speak to 7.0.

Thanks for the follow up. I was able to find a document from DevConnect
(VZBIPT-IPO91SBC) that showed that a test between Verizon and Avaya was done using an SBC Rel 6.3, and even though the switch was an IP Office Verizon has said that we can go ahead with the upgrade to 6.3.3 I still have not found any initial plans or testing guidelines on Release 7 yet.
