Does anyone know what flash card is available to reduce the chance of corruption and system outages- we know the M2p and M1 cards are bad. but that seems to be all we can get- any help would be appreciated
Avaya has recently received reports of sites having issues with compact flash memory used as the Fixed Media Device (FMD) on the NT4N39AAE5 CPP IV processor used on CS1000M systems. The FMD memory in question is the M1 or M2 versions as marked at the end of the compact flash identification label.
Indications are that the issue is restricted to compact flash devices with the following markings:
NORBELACF1GM1U-L or NORBELLCF1GM2PU
The issue was not found on the previous version of compact flash:
NORBELUCF1GBJ-L or the SDCFB-1024-834 (Sandisk).
My opinion is that this problem is completely random. The possibility of obtaining defective cards has existed since Release 4.5.
I agree this issue seems to be randon, but many symptoms can reveil an event. /u and /e drives missing, patch files gone, node files gone, along with the reboot loops. We are having issues finding the older cards, since they were MD'ed a while back. all systems seems to be shipping with the affected cards, as well as all of the repair stock. The new bulletins mention that this only affects CPPiv, where we have also seen this on CPPM in a Vx works environment (not Co-res). we have been chasing this issue for about a year and a half, I just want to stop the ticking on the time bomb. Thanks for the reply
"Avaya has identified the root cause of the Fixed Media Device (FMD) corruption issue currently being observed on the CPP4 processer platform. This is a VxWorks s/w driver interaction failure when combined with the newer compact flash cards provided by the Simple Tech (STEC) manufacturer. A patch will be provided to correct this on Rel. 6.0, 7.0, and 7.5 on CPP4 and CPPM platforms by COB Friday, April 1. Testing is currently under way. Patch number to be provided later in the week"
MPLR30863 is available for CPPIV (CPP4) on release 6.0 to address the FMD corruption problem. Follow your Avaya support process to obtain the patch, it is not public on ESPL at this time.
