Tasks - Upgrade CM from 5.2 to 6.3

Hello experts!

I need your help please.

I need to know how to upgrade CM from 5.2 to 6.3. I have been reading articles, documentation and so on.

I describe below the steps. Could you check, if them are correct, please?

- Backup CM 5.2
- deploy patch pré-upgrade
- deploy system plat 6.0 on new servers
- deploy CM 6 on system plat;
- restore do CM 5.2 on CM 6.3

Do I need do ESS first, correct?

Your steps are correct. Install / upgrade the ESS first, however do not worry about an ESS backup or restore...the ESS will get translations from the main CM, once it's upgraded.

Also, after you upgrade the main and restore from the CM 5.2 back up with the upgrade-patch, you may need to perform a reset system 4 before you see the restored translations (I think).

Also, when you restore you will need to check the box to force the restore even if the server names do not match.

There are also hardware consideration when upgrading your CM 5.2 to 6.3 depending on the server platform you are using. If you are using a very old server it may require you to change the server or otherwise you just need to install additional RAM as required by the latest software versions.
