Server redundancy to a pair of 8600 switches

I have been tasked with connecting a server to our two 8600 switches which are set up in an HA pair. Does anyone have a configuration document that shows how this is best configured? Is MLT with LACP the best option or is SMLT the way to go?

    Ntech,

If you want to the connection of the server to terminate into both ERS 8600 Cores, then you would have to configure SMLT on the ERS 8600s and on the Server you would have to configure a 802.3ad configuration. The First guide below will assist you in configuring the server NIC and the Second Guide should help you with Configuring the ERS 8600.

        Hi

This have been extracted from the Avaya document - refer to Page.18 Data Center Access Solution.

        From the document.

The Server side you need to configure the NIC Teaming (Bundling on the NIC card FEC/GEC Trunk) and on the Switch side you need to bundle them to the MLT group. The MLT could be mapped across a single switch or multiple switch.

        ERS 8600
        SMLT: 127
        SLT: 382
FEC/GEC Generic Trunking Or 802.3ad LACP
