AACC report creation wizard and historical reporting problem

Got a problem which looking through forum seems others have had similar but with older versions.

    Windows 2008 R2 SP1 standard
    AACC 6.2 co-res HA install
    Seperate linux ams servers

Running SP6 plus patches on AACC, no other windows patches have been installed.

When I go into historical reporting and try to pick any of the inbuilt reports, for example Script variable properties, in the bottom left of the screen it shows a red warning triangle and the message Failed to get report details. The choices in the reporting to select different things are all greyed out, and the buttons to run the report are greyed out.

There is also a problem with the report creation wizard and I was thinking these may be related.

When I go into report creation wizard, it comes up with the following error along the bottom:

Failed to create a new report document. Check that the crystal ras service is running. Exception: The system cannot find the path specified.

I have checked and the crystal service is running, I even restarted it and it made no difference.

    Any ideas?

Reasons for the error "Failed to get report details"

The error "Failed to get report details" is a generic message to the end user since the issue happens at a critical point where the end user cannot resolve the issue. The expected reasons, like RCW, is the Crystal Report Application Server (RAS) is not running or the report file cannot be found. In reality, the reason why this process can fail has been proven to be a bit more involved.

As you stated, there was another post related to Windows 2008 R2 SP1. The issue there related to the SP1 changing Windows code for better 64 bit support, but at the same time in broke existing applications. This was resolved with AACC CCMA 6.2 SP4. So if you are on a CCMA version earlier than SP4 you cannot install Windows 2008 R2 SP1 or you will see the error "Failed to get report details" and there is no other workaround.

Apart from this known change in Windows, the most likely causes are:

    - Crystal Report Application Server is not running. In the SCMU this is displayed as BOE120CrystalReportApplicationServer, in the Windows services it is Report Application Server 12

    - The path the the CCMA report templates is not correct. If you have upgraded the version of Crystal, as documented in the Release Notes, you must run the RCWUtility UpdatePath command. You'll find this documented in the post install step for CCMA.

There are more reasons, but see if one of the ones above explains why you are getting this error.

One of my friend had same problem and he has to remove "crystal report" from Add\remove programs and install it again.
