Applying ACR license to existing system

I'm required to install a ACR license to a ACR which is already in operation recording calls.
The license is to increase the number of bulk recording channels.

Can the addiotinal bulk recordings channels be used imediatley after apply the new license ? or Does the ACR need a restart to recognise the new increase ?
Can the license be applied during normal hours or does this need downtime ?

    Thanks

    ACR License question

A restart of the ACR service is required after applying a new license. This is a requirement from 10.1fp/sp2 forward.

The license will take affect right away, however due to a new method of port allocation, if the ACR service is not stop/restarted, the recorder will not record.
Yes, it does require downtime for the stop/restart.
