    Status of a station

    Hi Everyone,

When I use the command status stat xxxxxx(station number) in the service state field I have in-service/on-hook sometimes and in-service/off-hook sometimes. Can anyone please tell me what is the difference between on-hook/off-hook?

    Thanks in advance!

On hook - phone is idle
Off hook - phone is active on a call

Two Answers for the Price of One!

          First on and off hook.

Telephone "geeks" or "bell heads" have a long history going back to 1889. I'm old enough to remember the "box on the wall with the horn coming out the front" and a receiver thing resting in a double pronged hook on the side. To make or receive a call, you would lift the "thing" off the "hook" and hold it to your ear. That's the reason we call a phone that is in service "off hook."

          Second: "BCC and TN"
This information is found in the "station" chapter of the "Avaya Aura™ Communication Manager Screen Reference" book.

BCC is a display only field for Bearer Capability Classes. It has to do with the kind of trunking in use.

TN is for tenant. This comes into use if you are using tenant partitioning. From your question, I am going to assume that your PBX is not partitioned.
