IPOCC email with Google gmail

Has anyone successfully integrated their IPOCC email with hosted gmail? The Avaya FAQ says it can be done however I have not found any examples to go by for setting this up.

I have a new IPOCC installation for a higher educational institution which of course uses hosted gmail for their email. Voice is working just fine. We're trying to get the IPOCC to work with Gmail for inbound email to the IPOCC (and outbound replies), but have had no success getting it to work.

I can provide details if needed. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you getting any errors while connecting(pulling emails) ? Which protocol are you using ?

In TTrace-> Email -> C3000 POP3-IMAP4 client
do you see any errors ?

marquardt - are your examples using an on premise mail-relay?

Per your examples I tried using imap.googlemail.com instead of imap.gmail.com and that did not work

So I went back to imap.gmail.com per Google's web site

and that did not work either. I set up the SMTP per your example as well using the smtp.googlemail.com and when that didn't work I went back to smtp.gmail.com and that of course didn't work

In looking at Google's requirements per the link above, Google requires TLS on ports 465 or 587 for sending SMTP. My understanding is that the IPOCC can only send on Port 25 if TLS is required (is that correct??). So in searching further on Google's site - see the following

It would seem that in order to make this work, I'm going to need to set up an on-premise mail-relay server (see step 12) in order to make sending work, and likely the receiving as well?

I've attached screenshots (sorry about the small size - site limitations) of my final settings and the errors from TTrace

Note that I changed the customer domain name on my examples to "donut.edu" instead of "customer.edu" ... simply because I like donuts and for security of course.

I appreciate your help on this issue, I'm loosing hair scratching my head on something I thought would be relatively simple. IF I do need to set up an on-premise mail-relay, any suggestions for what to use would be terrific. Thanks!!

SMTP Connector Ports

You can use the Ports 25, 465, 587 or 2525. The SMPT connector uses the configured port.

The examples all work. I tried it also with the German provider T-Online. It works.
I tried it ewith Sendgrid and it works.

Note:
If you are in an Avaya Network it does not work. Avaya blocks all appropriate ports.

Please test the connection for example with telnet. (telnet servername port)

Hmm, I have 9.1 and do not have the Encryption dropdown for some reason. Is there a separate setting to enable it or is this a newer version than I have installed?

The encryption for emails is available in IPOCC version 9.1.6.

This is due to be available in the next couple of weeks, probably end of February or beginning of March.

Got the R9.1.6 upgrade installed and was able to get the IMAP4 inbound working for gmail (Google) without an issue. However I still cannot get the Outbound to work with gmail (google) with the SMTP C3000 connector. I've set up the SMPT configuration per the examples posted by Marquardt with the exception of using "smtp.gmail.com" for the outgoing email. I've attached the SMTP log and a screenshot of the SMTP configuration.

So what am I doing wrong here? It would appear that the TLS is still not working for the SMTP connector for outbound mail (although the inbound IMAP4 connector is working fine). Do I need to set up the email account within Google for smtp-relay??
