    M3900 Series problem on transfer

    Hello Everybody,

We did several upgrade of CS1000 to the latest rls which is 7.5.We are having a problem always on M3900 series digital sets when it comes to transfer feature.

This problem occurs when a user do a supervised transfer, the connect feature was not displaying on the button so you cannot complete the call transfer.

The solution to this issue is to do a firmware upgrade of the M3900 sets.

Now,our problem is that M3900 sets firmware upgrade takes approximately 10-15 minutes for each phone. Our client having more than 200 phones,so it will be problem for us.Other customer having more 500 M3900 sets.

Do we have patch for this issue?Or is there any other way to do a firmware upgrade of all the M3900 in one shot...I mean simultaneously?

    Regards,

    Benny

    Hi,
You can define FDL table in LD 97(see details in NTP) and then in LD 32 .FDLS to force download firmware to all defined M39XX type ( you should schedule a Maintenance Windows for this operation at least 1 hour ,during the phoneset firmware download, you can not exit LD 32 ,otherwise ,downloading may fail).
    Hope this answer your question.

This is an example of a scheduled download of (5) 3904 sets
One interval is scheduled to take place on Thursday at 3:00am for a maximum time of 2 hours

      >ld 97
      REQ chg
      TYPE fdl
      FDTP 3904
FDTM yes – Say yes if you want to schedule the download, Say no if want it to start immediately

FDAY 5 1 – FDAY d n Day and number of time intervals for download (if you said yes to FDTM)
d= (0-6) Day of the week, Sunday to Saturday
n= (0-4) Number of intervals where 0= no download for that day
note: If two or more intervals are specified, they must be non overlapping,
non consecutive and in increasing order.
FDAY is re-prompted until <cr> is entered.

FINT 3 2 – FINT s l Starting hour and length for a time interval.
s= (0-23) Starting hour using 24 hour format
l= (1-24) Length of interval in hours
FINT is prompted n times if Number of Intervals (n) is > 0

FDAY <cr> -- FDAY is re-prompted until <cr> is entered.

FTNR yes – Say yes to download to specific range of TNs, Do not say no to this or all 3904’s will download

      FSTN <cr>

      FETN <cr>

FDNR no – enter no because we don’t want to select specific DN’s for download.

FRCE yes – Say yes to force the download regardless of the 3904’s current flash firmware version.

      FVER <cr>

Now that the schedule is create, we must activate it to run

      >ld 32
      NPR000
.fdls – This command initiates the system wide flash download to all or the specified 3904 sets according to the parameters specified in LD 97 FDL configuration

      BUILDING TREE ..

        Dear Steve,

I know this scheduling.....What I want is that firmware should be done at the same time.Ex.if i have 100 M3905 digital phones and I want to update the fimware of all these 100 sets and the same time.

If you can see the firmware capture that you have provided, still it is doing 1 by 1 still.1 sets takes around 15 minutes.

        Regards,

        Benny

I thought the schedule would do 30 or so at a time.

The real answer is to upgrade 3900 firmware before the switch upgrade that way the sets will have the proper firmware and not have any issues. In a large switch you may need to run the schedule for several nights or maybe a couple weekends but once done you will be all set and ready for your upgrade.

There isn't any way to do all of the phones at once. And if I remember correctly the scheduler will only do one phone per controller at a time. 4.5 software would do 4 phones per controller.
