    9608 Screen Saver setting

So here is a question, I have not found any documentation on the standards for the 9608 Screensaver .jpg file, and as luck would have it I am having problems getting it to display correctly.

I have had great success on all the other 96xx and 96x1 phones with getting the screen saver to look good/correct but not the 9608. Right now I am using a plain text logo at 94x38 and have tried other various resolutions only to have my screen saver come up splotchy and un-readable.

Any suggestions, hints, ideas as to what the requirements are to make the screensaver look good? Or is this part of the multiple problems Avaya is having with this phone?

I figured this one out - for some reason this type of phone retains the screensaver file EVEN Though the 46xxsettings.txt points it to a new file.

I had to clear the phone and have it re-download the new image.

Just thought I would share if anyone else gets stuck on this one! Also remember the resolution on this phone is quite low, so the graphic has to be pretty simple.

        1. Create your jpg file (assume it is called logo.jpg for now).
        2. Upload the logo.jpg file to the http server where your 46xxsettings.txt file is located.
        3. Add the following lines to the 46xxsettings.txt file:
        ## SET SCREENSAVER filename
        SET SCREENSAVER logo.jpg
        ## SET SCREENSAVERON time in minutes before activating
        SET SCREENSAVERON 40
        4. Reboot the phone

Try to connect by using utility server and under that you will find Screen Saver option to upload the LOGO on your phone.I am sure it will work.

I am trying to implement a custom logo on my Avaya phones,
              We have the 9608.

I'm stuck on point #2. how do I find that setup file?
I use Avaya IP Office R9 Manager.

              Please help!

              Thanks

If you are using the V2 Chassis the 46xx file will be in the primary folder on the sd card , you can browse to this with the manager application

                  File/advanced/embedded file management

you locate the 46xx settings file , modify the file see below

                  ## SCREENSAVERON specifies the number of minutes of idle time after which the screen saver will be displayed. ## If an image file has been downloaded based on the SCREENSAVER parameter, it will be used as the screen saver. ## Otherwise, the built-in Avaya one-X(TM) screen saver will be used. ## Valid values are 0 through 999; the default value is 240 (4 hours). ## A value of 0 means that the screen saver will not be displayed automatically when the phone is idle. ## This parameter is supported by: ## 96x1 H.323 R6.0 and later ## 96x1 SIP R6.0 and later ## B189 H.323 R1.0 and later ## 96x0 H.323 R1.0 and later, but not supported by the 9610 ## 96x0 SIP R1.0 and later ## SET SCREENSAVERON 480<<<<<<<<CHANGE THIS TO PROBABLT 1MIN ## ## SCREENSAVER specifies the filename of a JPEG image to be used as a customized screen saver. ## Valid values are 0 through 32 ASCII characters; the default value is null (""). ## 96x1 H.323 R6.0 and later ## 96x0 H.323 R2.0 and later, but not supported by the 9610 ## SET SCREENSAVER filename <<<<<<<<CHANGE THIS TO YOUR FILE NAME!!!!!

Remove the ## before the SET SCREENSAVER & SET SCREENSAVERON 480

Then put your jpeg in the root directory that you located the 46xx file in reboot the phone and watch it tell you it has received the jpeg
See the below notes for the correct size of file for your handset

During boot-up the telephone checks for the file named in the system parameterSCREENSAVER. If found, that file is checked for valid jpeg format, and to verify
that the screen saver image height and width do not exceed the applicable full
                  screen pixel count of 160x160 for a 9610, 160x320 for a 9620, or 320x240 for a
                  9630, 9640 or 9650, or 480x640

But my guess is you already have the file somewhere , are you on a V2 chassis with sd card.??
