    96xx and Hearing aid

    I need a little help.

We just replaced our Nortel 2616 with Avaya 9650 IP phones. We have a person that uses the telecoil in their hearing aids and for some reason the handset on the 9650 does not keep the telecoil activated.

I have tried what was sugggested and on the Station tab put speakerphone to None. This had no affect still telecoil in hearing aid does not stay active. We did put the 2616 handset on the 9650 ip phone and this handset keeps the telecoil active, but as you know this handset will not sit in the phone craddle.

If anyone has a solution this would be great.

The user will need to turn the microphone in the hearing aid off and then rely on electro-magnetic inductive coupling between the handset and the hearing aid. (Hearing aids that work in this manner will have a "Tele-coil" or "T-coil" switch on them.)

I understand the person can manually activate the T-Coil however back it the 2616 handset days the person used the auto action part of the T-coil, which we have put the 2616 handset back in place with the 9650 since it creates enough magnetic field for the T-Coil. I am trying to figure out why the new IP phones do not do the same. and what other hardware I need to get this to work with all Avaya equipment.
