    Announcements backup via "System Manager"

System Manager 6.3 includes backup functionality for Avaya Communication Manager announcements. It provides only backup to the System Manager's hard disk, however, when what we really need is a backup to an external server.

Can we assume that the announcement backup will be included in the overall "System Manager" backup stored to an external server (over SCP) ?

Can we assume that the announcement backup will also be included in the "System Platform" backup done from the console domain ?

If so, we would not need to worry about using ASA or Media Gateway command line for voice announcement backups.

    Thanks in advance!

Assuming that they are talking about the ability to do a backup of the CM announcements from the Announcements page on SMGR. If that is true, I believe that this is only backed up onto the SMGR server. A backup of the SMGR Server would include the announcement files. There does not appear to be the ability to just backup the announcements part to an external server.

Can we assume that the announcement backup will be included in the overall "System Manager" backup stored to an external server (over SCP) ?

This is true. However, Only SCP is supported for this operation prior to SMGR 6.3.2 (FP2).
In SMGR 6.3.2 - FP2 we added support for SFTP

Can we assume that the announcement backup will also be included in the "System Platform" backup done from the console domain ?

    This is also true.

SMGR supports backups, so neither ASA nor command line is needed.

Does anyone know where the announcements are filed on SMGR? In other words, which directory on SMGR?

Restore Announcement to another VAL board?

Does anyone know how to use System Manager to restore an announcement backed up from one board to another? We use announcement groups and use this functionality in ASA to get a recording across 3 boards included in the group. Thanks!

          Managing Announcements with WS_FTP Pro

I stopped using the Avaya announcement administration tool early on. I found that any FTP client I had was far easier and more functional to use.

          It makes things like
          • delete
          • transfer
          • rename
          • playback
          • backup
          • transfer confirmation
very easy to see and manage. I have a document to post including the use of the "enable filexfer" command if anyone would like a copy.
          Thank you,

                Here's a possible solution

I've been fairly frustrated with the limited options available to manage and archive Avaya announcements. I ended up writing my own utility. It's available for anyone that might be interested:

Please post a link that works.

Interested in seeing what you came up with.

I had been working on a solution also, with almost 500 gateways more is needed.

                  thanks

                  David

Where are announcements located in backup

Didn't see a response to this question: Does anyone know where the announcements are filed on SMGR? In other words, which directory on SMGR?

I can unzip the file but have no idea where the announcements are located.
