Communication Manager can be installed on S8300D, S8510, or S8800 server
CM 6.0 runs on S8300D, S8510, or S8800 server. S8730 unfrortunately can't be used! Below are extracts from the manual

Upgrading to Avaya Aura™ Communication Manager Release 6.0

Communication Manager upgrades
"Because Communication Manager, Release 6.0, runs on only three servers, most upgrades require replacing the existing server with either an Avaya S8800 Server (standalone) or Avaya S8300D Server (embedded). Although Release 6.0 runs on an Avaya S8510 server, it is no longer being sold and, therefore, is not a target server. Communication Manager, Release 5.2.1, may be upgraded to Release 6.0 on the Avaya S8300D Server, Avaya S8510 Server, and Avaya S8800 Server. The latter two servers require a hardware upgrade as part of the process."

Just to add... The reason for the lack of older hardware support for 6.x is due to the new virtualization of AVAYA sever application products. AVAYA has moving toward using just a couple different servers (S8800 and S8300d) for all AURA applications. Multiple LINUX instances, each running an AURA application like SMGR, SM, CM, etc is the end result.
Although it's disappointing if you have just purchased S8730s not too long ago, this direction is spot on for AVAYA. Moving forward, there are and will be many benefits to the new architecture.Gary Rogerson
