IP 500 V2 randomly - different telephones dialing numbers

    Hi

I hope you can help. We have an Avaya IP 500 v2 and seem to be having some very strange problems. We have a total of 33 incoming call routes, with a total of 19 allocated to employee direct dials. Some of these are connected to telephones placed on unmanned desks.

Over the past couple of months some of the unmanned phones have randomly dialled external and internal numbers or checked voicemail. We have noticed this as the speaker on the unmanned phone suddenly comes on randomly and announces that there are no voicemails, or there is a problem reaching a number. There is no pattern which would indicate a problem with one call route/DD as it seem to happen on different DD's each time and no-one is near the phone at the time, or has even been near within the last 10-20 minutes at least.

If possible could you please confirm what you think this could be? Is there a quick fix you could recommend?

    Thank you so much

Is your Lan or Wan port connected and accessible to the public internet?

you could well be getting hacked with phone manager as suggested above , or simply you may have somebody with the monitor application playing games and activating buttons ,,,,to prove this run monitor set it to log to file and get people to log the date and time so you can then look at the monitor logs to see what is going on ...granted a lot of data to go through but a sure fire way to know what is happening.
