    x-port station

    Hi fellow forum users,

I'm currently learning about Avaya systems and came across the term 'x-port' station today.

The engineer I was speaking to said to another colleague that he had made the conference stations 'x-port'.

Could anyone explain what this means? Do they contact the call server in a different way, or require any other administration?

Both seemed to busy to explain to me.... Much appreciated if you could.

It is a station not attached to a physical port. In the port field you place an X hence the term x-port. The extension will still have the functionality of a physical station but no hardware attached. The station can still be bridged to line appearances on physical phones where it can ring.

Not clear on what this engineer is referring to.
