    Questions to 4620SW

    Hi,

my boss ordered 4 Avaya 4620SW IP Phones and i am struggling to set up those phones. We want to use this phone with the VOIP provider sipgate. Is it even possible to use these phones like an ordinary VOIP phone?

If so, is it really necessary to set up a tftp/http server or is it somehow possible to set up those 4 phones manually, without the use of a server which provides the configuration files.
Since we do not have a local server which runs 24/7 a tftp/http server could only run on an external server. If a tftp/http server is really necessary would it be possible to do this on a web hosting service?
If so would it be really secure to put these configuration files on a public server? I guess not...

Nextly the phones still run with H.323 and need to be upgraded to use the SIP protocol. I found two ways on the internet in order to do this but i am a little bit confused which one to use. I speak about

    and

What exactly is the difference between the CC and NCC Version? For me personally the first method sounds much easier. For the second method, the included 46xxupgrade.scr refers to

    Code:
    # END
    GET 46xxsettings.txt
I guess that is the ominous configuration file. An appropriate template for the 4620SW seems to be at

    ftp://ftp.avaya.com/incoming/Up1cku9...xxsettings.txt

So if i use a tftp/http server would it be enough to put all files from the second link (the NCC version) and the (for our use modified) configuration file in the home directory of the tftp/http server and tell the 4620SW the ip adress of the server?

Finally the manual often refers to a dhcp server. Do i really need an own DHCP server or it is sufficient to use the DHCP server of our router and let him assign each phone its ip adress?

    Thank you for your attention
    Pedro
