Avaya's ip Office now works with Nortels 1120 and 1140 IP phones with release 8 according to the documentation. What is needed get them to work? Is it just a firmware upgrade?

Ip Office with Nortel 1120's and 1140'2
They need to be running SIP to work on the IP Office, not Unisom. You will need to be on R6.1 or above. You will need VCMs in the IP Office. In order for the phones to accept the SIP bin files they need to have enough memory so they need to be relitively newer 11/1200 series phones. I believe there is a DevConnect application note on how to configure them. Look on tab 43 of the R8 IP Office Matrix line 90.

Thanks for the response. Your warning saved me from a costly and time consuming error. I found a good link on how to upgrade the phones and the code that goes with it. During my testing I kept getting hung (upgrades available please download) on the phone display. Going through the documentation I found on this link my particular 1120's and 1140's are of the older version and can't be upgrade. Also in this link I found out that my 1120 versions are prone to failure after 4 or 5 years of use. Avaya will fix them for free and is offering a 90.00 credit on top of any trade in credits for replacing the phones.
