    Incoming routing

    In Canada, service from Bell, 6 analog lines plugged into various cards on our IPOffice 500v2.

    I'm trying to route calls on one of the lines, 4335, directly to our fax machine. That is also card 1 port 9.

    There is no option for selecting physical card/port in the Incoming Call Routing field, but I suspect I may be able to emulate this with Line Group ID?

    If so, how do I set up a new Line Group ID with a single port in it?

    In Manager, go to the Analogue Trunk that 4335 is connected to. Change the Incoming Group ID to something other than what it is currently set to. (Default is 0, I would use the line number, and since Card 1, Port 9 is line 1, I would change the Incoming Group ID to 1 if no other lines are set this way)

    Now go to Incoming Call Route, and make a new one. It should be Any Voice, Line Group ID 1 (or whatever you have used), and on the destinations tab, put in the extension number of the port that the Fax machine is plugged into (you will have to plug your fax into a "POT" or "Phone" port, one that supports a single line phone instead of a digital multiline phone.)

      Thanks thiel, I've got that (semi) working now.

      One thing I found while working on this is that if you type a number into the Phone Number field of the Line - just below the Line Group area - it will report this number in the DDI when a call comes in on that line.

      Unfortunately, it doesn't *appear* that it matches on that number when looking for the ICR rule to fire, in spite of it listing the number. In my experiments the default ICR fired when the filter was just on the incoming number.

      I tried matching both on the "complete" number and just the last four digits, but neither worked. I *assume* that such a rule would override a default one, or is there some ordering that I need to take into account?

        Don't type anything in the "Incoming Number" field of the Incoming Call Route/Standard tab. You only want:

        Bearer Capability = Any Voice
        Line Group ID = 1 (or whatever you are using)
        Incoming Number = blank
        Incoming Sub Address = Blank
        Incoming CLI = Blank
        Locale = Blank
        Priority = 1 - Low
        Tag = Blank
        Hold Music Source = System Source

        And on the Destination tab,
        Time Profile = Default Value
        Destination = Extension Number of your Fax Machine
        Fallback Extension = Blank

        That's all you need!! The routing is based on the Line Group ID of the ringing line, and the Line Group ID of the route without anything in Incoming Number field. (This is a copper POTS line, so there is no incoming DDI)

          Ok this IS routing properly now.

          But one remaining issue: every time a call comes in, it rings both the selected line AND the secretary's line. I checked a variety of places without luck...

          1) the ICR has only a single extension listed, the fallback is left blank
          2) the extension that is in the ICR does not have mobile, forwarding or line twinning turned on
          3) the secretary line does NOT ring when you call that extension any other way, it seems to happen only through the ICR.

          You can see this happening in the Monitor. Here's an example where I had it ring through to my line as an experiment. I set one of the analog lines to be group 6 and put the ICR on that group, as you outlined above. Then I called it from my cell phone. After ADDing PRIMARY for me, it then adds Alexis as well.

            Do you have line appearances on the Operator's phone?
