Merlin Legend help with switchover to new provider

Our company uses a Merlin Legend which utilizes 4 channels of a T1 for out of state voice, and 8 POTs lines in the hunt group for the rest.

Comcast has come up our street with Fiber and we signed up, purchasing the PRI plan that has 20 channels for voice. Unfortunately they are completely blind sided that we wanted to keep our main phone number that's on all our business cards and advertisements (along with keeping our 800 number)

I'm thinking I can kill the POTs line in the hunt group now, but what do I do with the main number? Is the normal course to keep it as a POTs, or have Comcast move it over to the PRI, then have a technician change the hunt group to look at the DS1 only?

    Thanks

Well, its going to be a bit more involved than that.

I would move everything over to the PRI. Up to you if you want to leave analog faxes of put those on teh PRI. Just make sure that if you do, you have analog station ports for them on teh system.

Its not just removing teh POTS trunks from the default trunk group. You will also need to complete the PRI programming to allow for a full PRI, where, right now, you only have 4 channels in use.
Make sure to call in a qualified business partner, as you can not afford downtime. I would also bring that partner in early, to make sure the PRI gets provisioned the correct way from the provider.

Thanks, do you know what card I need to see to tell if I have analog station port(s)?

Analog station ports will be found on an 016TR or 008OPX, as well as the last 6 port of an 016ETR can be set to Analog Tip/Ring
