    Receptionist

We have Partner phones, and recently (within the last 6 months) when we call one of our members the caller ID is showing up as unknown. We have had T W Telecom out several times and they said the problem is not in any of their equipment and suggested we call you that something might need to be fixed in our equipment set-up.

You can reach me at 336-275-4587
    Thank you for your time,
    Jeanne Shepherd

The name associated with Caller ID is a weird system at best. When you call someone, your telephone number is transmitted by your telephone company to the telephone company that serves the person you are calling. THEIR phone company takes that number, goes into a database, to find the name that goes along with the number, and that is what is displayed on their telephone. Each telephone company maintains their own database, and they are all supposed to be synchronized, but sometimes that doesn't happen.

So, your telephone numbers are provided by Time Warner, and if you call another Time Warner customer, the name that will be displayed will be the one that Time Warner has programmed into their data base.

But if you were to call me at home, where I am served by AT&T, the name displayed would be the one that AT&T has in their database that matches the number sent out by Time Warner.

And if you were to call me on my Verizon cell phone, I would not get your name at all, but the geographic area that you are calling from based on your area code and the prefix of your telephone number.

        Phone console Out of Order

we have a Avaya phone system I have a console on my desk that does not light up. I called the number I was given for replacement parts for your Partner phone systems. They say they can't help me because they can't get the cables to go between my phone and the console. Since we have a contract with you for this system I figure you should be able to get me a cable. or a new phone set with phone and console that works. I work for the Wells County Sheriff Department in Bluffton, IN 260-824-3426. My name is Elaine and I would like a reply to this question. [email protected].
